Jonathan Schooler, (born August 3, 1959) is an American Psychologist and Professor of Psychological and Brain Sciences at the University of California, Santa Barbara, who researches various topics that intersect aspects of both cognitive psychology and philosophy such as: Belief in free will, Meta-awareness, Mindfulness,〔(Annie Murphy Paul: Can Mindfulness Technique Help Us Focus? | TIME.com )〕 Mind-Wandering,〔(Daydream believer: Is a wandering mind a creative mind? - CNN.com )〕 Memory, Creativity, and Emotion. Schooler is also known for his sometimes controversial research on topics such as Anomalous Cognition and The Decline Effect.〔(Unpublished results hide the decline effect : Nature News )〕 ==Early life and education== Schooler studied psychology at Hamilton College in Clinton, New York where he graduated Cum Laude with B.A. in Psychology in 1981. Schooler earned his Masters Degree and Ph.D in Psychology from the University of Washington〔(The decline effect and the scientific method : The New Yorker )〕 in 1984 and 1987 respectively.
